Rinsen Obitsu – Biography

Calligrapher / Contemporary Artist

Rinsen Obitsu presents calligraphy works both in Japan and abroad, exploring themes such as ancient characters, dragons, nature, and the power of words. Her work portrays “landscapes of color” within the black-and-white world of ink. In her unique project The Rose Calligraphy, born from a mystical encounter between roses and calligraphy, she uses natural rosewater and pigments extracted from the "Sahime" rose of Oku-Izumo Rose Garden to grind ink, infusing each piece with fragrance and color. Obitsu's work harmonizes tradition and innovation, cultivating a distinctive world of calligraphy.
